Thermoelectricity is the field which deals with the relationship between temperature and electricity. Both, thermoelectric generators (TEGs) and thermoelectric coolers (TECs) are based on the thermoelectric effect. If a temperature difference is applied across a TEG module, a voltage is produced. If a voltage is applied to a TEC module, it will pump heat.
ESPRYX™ production process
After work spanning several years, a team at Creavis has now come up with a high-performance approach that allows the production of thermoelectric generators (TEGs) and thermoelectric coolers (TECs/Peltier) modules in a fully automated, flexible, continuous and industrially scalable process.
ESPRYX™ TEG and TEC modules
The thermoelectric modules, which come in a completely new design are to be marketed under the brand name ESPRYX™. The smart module design enable both TEG and TEC/Peltier module production. Thanks to their choice of materials and a special black protective coating ESPRYX™ performs well at temperatures up to remarkable 280°C.
The potential application fields for the resulting ESPRYX™ modules are manifold; because of its design allowing its use as both TEG and TEC/Peltier elements, as well as, for its robustness, size and shape flexibility, and scalability. Each specific application has its own requirements; ESPRYX™ is best suited in applications requiring compact size, low weight, low noise levels, wireless power, and mobility.
